What is anti-exploitation culture?
The entirety of the time I've been in the anti exploitation space, and frame of mind, I've heard:
"You're doing god's work. I'd love to help the cause"
Thank you to everyone who said that. But this isn't a cause anymore. It must be our culture to fight exploitation because of it's prevalence across society, being deeply embedded in everything from computers, to food, to transportation, to employment.
We aren't against 'child porn' and we aren't against 'pedophiles'.
We're against every structural flaw that can lead to a young person going 'missing' in some way, shape or form. (isolated, tortured, depressed, stolen)
I would call out every single person in the online anti predator space and say that we need to care about all exploitation, everywhere, not just a narrow slice of some CSAM dealers who aren't even leading you towards 'key players' like protected producers. Admittedly, law enforcement needs to be the one's doing that, but still.
unregulated tech, abused workers in supply chains, factory farming, environmental pollution
In my experience, antiexploitation culture has played out like this:
I think about my place in life and every system I uphold
I take 10 big steps backwards and find a table of values to live by
I go alone because I care too much, I live minimally, and support better companies
Finding likeminded people, we empower each other to create a more outward antiexpl. culture.
And something happens:
It's easier to solve these problems from a big picture perspective
More problems are solved (Law enforcement is more equipped against CSAM rings because more average people support it as a profession. An anti-exploitation profession would never suffer in a fully anti-exploitation society)
A sort of hierarchy of problems is reached, with perhaps child torture/OEA at the top.
I circle back, with a whole new career model and approach to society that's focused on lasting change
Then perhaps:
5) We develop some software and guides to streamline the process of navigating a CE scenario online - as a tangible step with measurable success, if that's your rightful area of expertise.
6) We use the full power of our team (through perhaps a central body to pool resources better than we've been doing) to automatically collect data and illegal material off of the CSAM rings, as a goodbye to 'lower impact' work.
I'm not trying to be overly critical, especially not of people who know what they're doing and are actually getting shit done.
For revolution, and ending all exploitation,
Evan
